Lions 263 for 9 (Daniyal 65*, Taha 47, Yamin 46, Ubaid 3-46, Amin 2-35, Sadaqat 2-50) beat Stallions 251 (Yasir 39, Khushdil 3-40, Daniyal 3-59) by 12 runs
The Lions were able to keep their campaign alive by securing a victory against the Stallions by a score of 12 runs in the Champions One-Day Cup Eliminator that took place in Faisalabad.
This success was made possible by an all-around performance from Ahmed Daniyal and a three-wicket haul from Khushdil Shah. After that, the Lions will compete against Markhors in the second Eliminator on Friday, and the winner will play the Panthers in the championship game on Sunday.
After the Lions made the decision to bat, they were in a difficult situation at 43 for 3, but Sharoon Siraj (38), together with Mohammad Taha, brought the innings back to life with a partnership of 77 runs. Stallions, on the other hand, continued to chip away at the Lions, which led to another fall for the Lions, who moved from being at 120 for three to being at 140 for seven in the span of five overs. Daniyal and Aamer Yamin started a counterattack as the Lions were looking at the possibility of scoring a total that was lower than 200.
Their eighth-wicket stand of 81 runs ultimately led the team to a score of 263 for 9. Daniyal remained undefeated with a score of 65 off 59 balls, including two fours and five sixes, while Yamin was dismissed for 46 runs out of the game. With a final score of three wickets for forty-six, Ubaid Shah, a seamer for the Stallions, was the most selected bowler.
The Stallion’s got off to a good start in their pursuit of 264 runs, thanks to a 64-run opening partnership between Yasir Khan (39), who was, and Maaz Sadaqat (27).
Khushil was responsible for the dismissal of both Sadaqat and Adil Amin, which caused the side to fall to 68 for three.
However, three wickets were taken after each other in successive overs. Another dangerous combination between Tayyab Tahir and Hussain Talat, which resulted in 69 runs for the fourth wicket, looked to provide the Stallion’s with a path to get back into the game. However, Daniyal made a breakthrough in the 30th over, which ultimately halted their momentum.
Mohammad Haris, the captain of the Stallions, and Jahanad Khan produced a late charge, but the Lions maintained their lead by taking wickets on a consistent basis.
The Lions were able to ultimately bundle the Stallions out for 251 runs, despite the fact that they only had two wickets in hand. The Stallion’s required 23 runs off of the last two overs.
Khushdil completed with a score of three wickets for forty, while Daniyal finished with three wickets for sixty-nine.
